Cezanne in Provence is a documentary that explores the life and work of Paul Cezanne (1839-1906), a leading figure in the impressionist and post-impressionist movements who had a profound influence on the course of modern art. Shot on location in Provence and at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC, where the Cezanne exhibit opened in January, 2006.

we felt that the albumn was very helpful and inclusive, what I missed most and specifically was some reference as to where the images are normally hung.

Kitaj’s enigmatic and highly personal paintings engage with contemporary culture, his Jewish identity, and the horror of the Holocaust. His hero is C?zanne: “He is my greatest painter of all and the three last Bathers are my favorite art of all.” Kitaj recently embarked on a series of seven major new paintings inspired by C?zanne’s Bathers for an exhibition at the National Gallery, London. These new works are reproduced here for the first time, together with a series of black chalk drawings, directly inspired by C?zanne. The book includes a short essay about Kitaj’s work, which places the new paintings in the context of his earlier works and reveals his constant preoccupation with the Old Masters. There is also a new and previously unpublished interview with the artist.

This video presents the art collection of Dr. Albert C. Barnes, who used his wealth from the pharmaceutical industry to buy works of French Impressionism. The business tycoon opened a museum in 1925 in Merion, PA, to show his vast collection. It contains works by well-known French Impressionists and other turn of the century artists including Van Gogh, Toulouse-Lautrec, Rousseau, and Picasso. The Barnes collection owns 60 works by Matisse, 69 paintings of Cezanne, and 180 pieces by Renoir. The video tours the Barnes Foundation to view the works, while telling the personal story of the eccentric Dr. Barnes.
